To all of our Participants, sponsors and donors,

We have been closely monitoring the coronavirus (COVID-19) situation and taking the responsible and necessary precautionary measures to protect the health and well-being of our participants, valued partners and NHL Alumni, volunteers and sponsors. Your health and safety is our number one priority during this very unsettling time for us all.

It is with this first and foremost in mind, together with the recent announcements from the Governments declaring public states of emergency and taking more aggressive measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19, we have now made the very difficult decision to cancel the Brent Sopel Foundation Chicago Pro-Am hockey tournament.

“The health and safety of all staff, participants, volunteers, sponsors, vendors and Alumni is of the outmost importance to the NHL Alumni Association and their families. The decision by the Brent Sopel Foundation in cancelling the upcoming 2020 Chicago Pro-Am Hockey Tournament is the right and only decision and we support It.” said Glenn Healy, Executive Director of the NHL Alumni Association.

As you know, the tournament raises critically needed funds to provide educational support for children affected with Dyslexia.

As you can imagine, this is uncharted territory, and we appreciate your continued support as we navigate through this and determine all the necessary and advisable next steps. Rest assured we will be reaching out to all participants, vendors and sponsors in the coming days and weeks as it relates to these next steps and with respect to options related to player and team registrations, donations and sponsorships.

Please mark September 10, 2021 in your calendars as we are confident that 2021 will be an even bigger and better event!

Thank you again for your understanding and support as we do our part to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Moreover, thank you very much for all you do to support the Brent Sopel Foundation!
